Meet Gumpy — my 2007 Subaru Forester with a twist.
Yeah, he looks like Herbie the Love Bug—because I grew up watching it. But I wasn’t about to go full Volkswagen, so I built my own Subaru tribute. The name? Gumpy—a nod to Forrest Gump and the fact that he’s my 3rd Subaru in the lineup.
My Subaru journey started with a 2004 Forester XT that stole my heart but had to go. Then came a 2015—nice, but not “me.” This 2007 Forester came into my life when my wife needed a ride after a wreck, just two months before our wedding. I got to pick the replacement, and I went straight for my favorite—the ’07 Forester.
From there, I went to work. New grille. Fresh headlights and taillights. Impreza exhaust. Enkei wheels. Every day, Gumpy evolves—more unique, more personal, more mine. This isn’t just a build… it’s a rolling piece of my life story.
