The limited-edition STI S209, the first ever S-line STI product produced exclusively for the US market, comes with upgrades in power, handling, aerodynamics, and driver engagement. The S209 carries on a tradition that dates back to the STI models that were exclusive to the Japanese domestic market- from the 2000 S201 to the 2018 S208.

Not only does the S209 receive Bilstein dampers with stiffened springs, the S209 chassis incorporates front crossmember and rear subframe reinforcements, flexible front strut tower bar, front/rear draw stiffeners, and flexible tower bars for optimal tire grip during lateral movements and steering response.

A modified version of the EJ25 2.5 liter turbocharged boxer engine powers the S209, featuring an STI turbocharger manufactured by HKS. This set up pushes 341 horsepower at 6,400 rpms, partially responsible for the larger turbine and compressor and the maximum boost pressure has been increased to 18.9 psi. Not only does the S209 have more boost and a beefed up EJ25, the enhanced boxer engine delivers a noticeable increase in midrange torque of 330lb.-ft at 3.600 rpm, allowing for higher corner exit speeds when driving.

More power demands more fuel and air- enter the S209’s new high-flow fuel pump, larger fuel injectors, and an STI-tuned engine control module. To feed more air to the EJ25, the S209 utilizes a high-flow intake system, introducing a new intake box, silicone turbo inlet duct, and a manual controlled intercooler water spray system. To allow for effortless air flow, the S209 comes with high-performance mufflers which bring 17 percent less airflow resistance, as well as aggressive acoustics.

For added driver engagement, the S209 comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. Its power is supplied to the iconic Symmetrical All Wheel Drive system by Subaru with front and rear limited-slip differentials and a Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD), active Torque Vectoring and more. The improved SI-Drive system offers three modes: Intelligent (I) for economy and power control, Sport (S) for optimal balance between response and control, and Sport Sharp (S#) for the best acceleration.

The S209 receives several adjustments to uplift the interior, from a D-shaped steering wheel wrapped in Ultrasuede with silver stitching, to a S209 serial number resides on the center console and S209 badges resting on the passenger side dash and the Recaro front bucket seats. S209 badges were also added to the front grille, fenders and the trunk lid.
